Cookie Policy
This policy outlines the use of cookies on this website. This policy may be updated from time to time to reflect any changes to the functionality of this website or changes in technology or data protection legislation.
What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small piece of data or text file sent by a website to the browser on your computer or mobile device when you are visiting a website. It consists of anonymous information, including a unique user identifier. When you navigate between pages on a website or revisit a website, the cookie is sent back from your browser to the website, to enable the website to remember your browser and whether you have entered personalised details or preferences on that website before.
How do we use cookies on this website?
We use cookies for the inherent functionality of this website and its Content Management System. We also use cookies to collect information about how visitors use this website.
Google Analytics:
Skillnet Ireland uses cookies associated with Google Analytics (GA4), known as Google Signals, which provides code to collect information about how visitors use our site. For all users, when you ‘opt-in’ to our Cookie Policy anonymised data about how you use our site is collected, this includes data about where visitors have come from, what pages they viewed and how long they spend on the site.
If you are logged into your Google account and have agreed to Google’s User Policy when you visit the Skillnet Ireland website, we may collect additional anonymised insights about your interaction with our website. This could include your location, search history, YouTube history, and data from Google partner sites.
For all users, this information is collected anonymously, with your consent and does not identify you. We use this information to help us improve the way www.skillnetireland.ie works to provide a better user experience. GA4 prohibits the tracking or collection of personal information or the association of personal information with web analytics information. For more information, please refer to Skillnet Ireland’s Cookie Policy.
Google Ads & Remarketing:
Google Ads is an advertising analytics service provided by Google. Ads uses temporary cookies that are stored on a user’s computer for a limited period. Only pages that a user has visited containing the Google conversion code are tracked. Google do not collect or store personal information.
AdWords Remarketing is a remarketing and behavioural targeting service provided by Google. This website uses the Google Ads remarketing service to advertise on third party websites (including Google) to previous visitors to www.skillnetireland.ie. Users may opt-out of Google Ads Remarketing use of cookies by visiting the Ads Centre opt-out page.
Facebook Retargeting:
We use Facebook Retargeting cookies so we can advertise relevant information about Skillnet Ireland to our social media users. Facebook Retargeting is a remarketing service provided by Facebook Inc which uses the Facebook Pixel. The Facebook pixel is a small, invisible piece of code owned and operated by Facebook that tells Facebook to save visitors’ cookies to the Skillnet Ireland website. More information on Facebook’s cookie policy can be found here.
Users may opt-out of Facebook Retargeting use of cookies by visiting https://www.facebook.com/ads/preferences.
Facebook Custom Audiences:
Facebook’s custom audiences feature enables Skillnet Ireland to create an audience list for sending ads through Facebook. Skillnet Ireland uses customer data such as email addresses and phone numbers to match (at an email address or telephone level) to Facebook users. If a Facebook user clicks on an ad which has been sent to them because they are part of a custom audience list, a Facebook cookie installed on the Facebook website allows their user behaviour to be tracked. This enables Skillnet Ireland to measure the effectiveness of Facebook ads for statistical and market research purposes. The data collected in this way is anonymous to Skillnet Ireland.
Users may opt out of Facebook Custom Audiences by visiting https://www.facebook.com/settings?tab=ads.
