We Drive Innovation Through our Business Supports

Skillnet Ireland plays a vital role in the innovation ecosystem in Ireland, by promoting industry and academia collaborations to address future skills. Our programmes and initiatives support the integration of a culture of innovation within businesses and individuals. These include the Skillnet Innovation Exchange, which facilitates innovative collaboration between Irish SMEs and large multinationals, our range of cutting-edge Skillnet Business Networks programmes and industry-led research and policy interventions.

Collaboration is key to unlocking innovation for growth and is at the heart of everything we do. We excel in triple helix collaborations, which promotes collaborations among academia, industry, and government, solving complex industry challenges and addressing future skills gaps. In addition, our changing work landscape requires innovative approaches to accreditation. Micro-credentialing is becoming part of the standard workforce learning and development approach. Making lifelong learning more accessible and engaging for workers and enabling businesses to fill skill gaps that traditional credentials might not address.

Innovating the manufacturing process with Cobotics Skillnet

Cobotics Skillnet’s mission is to boost robotic and automation density in Ireland.

Facing a shortage of digital automation skills, Thermo King collaborated with Cobotics Skillnet to develop a targeted upskilling programme for their existing talent pool. Together they collaborated with Atlantic Technological University (ATU) on developing courses in advanced manufacturing, automation and robotics to deliver the required talent.

This partnership empowered Thermo King to navigate the shift to digitalised manufacturing. Thermo King has become a leader in reshoring manufacturing to Ireland with this development. This type of collaboration plays a key role in the co-creation of new programmes to meet future skills.
