On 22nd January, Technology Ireland ICT Skillnet celebrated a milestone fifth graduation ceremony for the National MSc in Artificial Intelligence (AI) – Ireland’s very first masters level course in AI.
Delivered by Technology Ireland ICT Skillnet and University of Limerick, in partnership with Skillnet Ireland, the leading-edge programme has produced over 400 graduates and supported businesses across Ireland to harness the potential of AI.

Artificial intelligence is at the heart of many transformational business and technical applications. Applications using massive datasets, powerful computing architectures and advanced learning algorithms are contributing to business growth in almost every industry.
The National MSc in Artificial Intelligence is a two-year online part-time programme, giving current and future AI engineers the skills, theory and recognition they need to develop in their role, with an emphasis on practical application in the workplace.
Launched in response to industry demand, the programme equips learners with an in-depth knowledge of AI and machine learning. Leading tech companies, including Dell EMC, Ericsson, and IBM, contribute to its development, ensuring it remains relevant to the latest industry advancements.
Dr Pepijn van de Ven, Professor in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning at University of Limerick, said: “Our goal is to prepare students for the industrial applications of AI, with the comprehensive skills and ethical understanding needed to master this rapidly evolving field. The most rewarding aspect of the programme is witnessing the students’ appreciation.”
