Strategic Focus Areas
The focus areas for upskilling are based on research carried out by the Irish Government and Skillnet Ireland in the area of skills and lifelong learning. With the aim of supporting Irish businesses to become stronger and more competitive through upskilling, these focus areas are at the centre of everything we do and form the building blocks for the creation of all of our upskilling and reskilling programmes and initiatives.

Developing new leaders to sustain growth with Carlow Kilkenny Skillnet
For Entegro, one of Europe’s leading fixed line design companies, it was important to develop leaders internally to manage their team of surveyors, designers and engineers building fibre networks around the country. They needed to upskill employees, particularly in management skills, for career progression opportunities within the company and to prepare them for working in a hybrid environment.
To support Entegro's talent development and career advancement requirements, Carlow Kilkenny Skillnet developed a bespoke ‘Emerging Leaders’ programme. The implementation of the programme has been very successful for Entergo employees, both in developing their skills and preparing them for progression to managerial roles.
Entegro has built a culture of learning and sharing best practice internally and the partnership with Carlow Kilkenny Skillnet is now a fundamental part of their business and how it will continue to develop talent in the future.
